Palm Sunday

This week is Palm Sunday. We remember how the Lord Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, while the crowds waved palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna, Hosanna,” welcoming Him as King. Yet this King did not come as people expected—He did not rule by military power or authority, but chose the way of the cross, accomplishing redemption through self-giving love. The crowd’s enthusiasm quickly turned; in just a few days, praise became rejection. This reminds us that faith should not rest on momentary emotion, but be rooted in a true knowledge of and obedience to the truth.

Palm Sunday also invites us to reflect: are we welcoming a god who only meets our expectations, or the Saviour who was willing to suffer for us and calls us to take up our cross and follow Him? When we say “Hosanna,” are we also willing to obey His will in our daily lives, following Him faithfully in both good times and hardship?

As Good Friday approaches, let us prepare our hearts, examine our lives, and reflect on the price Christ paid for us. May the cross be not just history, but the center of our daily lives. May we respond to His love with repentance and gratitude, and renew our commitment before the cross to faithfully follow this humble yet glorious King.
