Easter is the Best

Christmas is nice but I don’t think it’s the best. Christmas has such a huge build up. There are parties to go to, presents to buy, gifts to wrap, cards to send, and family lunches on the other side of town. It’s often hot; expectations are high and it can be simply exhausting. Everyone needs a holiday after Christmas.
Not so Easter. Easter is absolutely the best. It sneaks up on you and suddenly, before you know it, you’ve got a mini-holiday with nothing to do but slow down and relax. Four days: that’s not a pretend holiday, that’s a real break from work. The weather is nice, not too hot, not too cold. If you’re stuck for something to do, well you can always pay a visit to the Easter Show, go for a drive along the coast (if you can afford the petrol this year), or just curl up with a good book.
Easter really is the best. But it’s even better for the Christian! If we restrict the pleasures of Easter to a short holiday and chocolate eggs, then we’ve missed the best part. ‘Grace’ is surely the most precious word in the Christian vocabulary and Easter should be a celebration of grace.
It’s important to stop and take time to reflect upon the fact that, God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Let’s be thankful, let’s rejoice, and let’s celebrate grace this Easter. Let’s give praise for the past and move forward with faith for the future.
