Mother’s Day
10 May 2026
By Pastor John Macindoe - Senior Pastor
Some of us, maybe only old people like me, will remember the Tip Top bread ad that began, ‘Good on ya, Mum, Tip Top’s the one, Good on ya, Mum!’
This Mother’s Day I’d like to stay ‘Good on ya!’ to all the mums of our church. Not because you purchase the best bread or wear the most fashionable clothes. Good on ya for loving and sharing, cooking and cleaning, cuddling and listening, moulding us and sticking like glue, being on our side, no matter what we’ve done.
To our mothers: We give you thanks and acknowledge that we owe you a debt we can never repay. You have shaped us in a way no one else ever will.
For those with young children: The road is long and bumpy. The task unfinished. Stick at it! Today is your day. The time is now.
Children Won’t Wait
There will be a time when there will be no slamming of doors, no toys on the stairs, no childhood quarrels, no fingerprints on the wallpaper.
Then may I look back with joy and not regret.
……………………………………………………
God, give me wisdom to see that today is my day
with my children.
That there is no unimportant moment in their lives.
May I know that no other career is so precious,
No other work so rewarding,
No other task so urgent.
May I not defer it nor neglect it,
But by the Spirit accept it gladly, joyously,
and by thy grace realise
That the time is short and my time is now,
For children won’t wait!
