Children of God

By Eva Chung - Children Ministry Leader

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to listen as others shared their life stories. I noticed how God is constantly moulding and shaping people as they grow, preparing them to become the servants He calls them to be. Looking back, I see also how God guided me to children's ministry.

I did not come from a Christian family, but I attended Christian schools while growing up. I still remember the smiles of my kindergarten teacher and some of the hymns I sang at school. Many of these memories — like the Bible verses I read but did not fully understand — were revived years later when I became a Christian. Looking back, I realise that, even in my youth and ignorance, God was already at work shaping my life. Then, some years ago, I had the opportunity to be trained in children's ministry. God led me to realise that this is where I belong.

Today, I’ll still tell you: I do not serve in children's ministry because I have always loved being around children, even though I loved their cuteness and innocence. The true reason is that I see each child as God’s creation — loved by God and unique in their own way. Children's ministry can be challenging but it is worthwhile, and it is a not-to-be missed spiritual opportunity. It is a privilege to play even a small part in the lives of our children.
