Designed With You in Mind

Consider these facts. The temperature of the sun is approximately 7000 degrees Centigrade. Fortunately our earth is 150 million kilometres from this raging furnace. Consequently, temperatures on earth are able to vary within the exact range that can support life. If our world were on average 20 degrees hotter or colder then all life on earth would cease.

Our planet rotates on its axis 365 times a year as it passes around the sun. What if this were different? What if it rotated on its axis 100 times a year instead? Well, once again, life on planet Earth would cease. Every very long day would become intolerably hot and those long dark nights, unbearably cold.

Allow me one more example. The air in our atmosphere contains 21% oxygen. If this level varied significantly, then once again, you guessed it, life would cease. For instance, if the oxygen level were 50%, then every time you had a BBQ, you along with the steak and salad would be up in flames as soon as a match were lit. Physicists are increasingly discovering that our world, our solar system, indeed many of the basic physical constants that govern how the universe functions, need to be incredibly finely tuned so as to make life on earth possible.

Is this pure chance? No! This is evidence of a creator God who purposefully designed our planet to support life. Your life matters to God. He created the entire universe with you in mind. Make the most of it. Make sure you’re his friend.
