Celebration Invitation

9 August 2026

By Pastor John - Senior Pastor

Have you heard! It’s a big deal! Central Baptist Church is celebrating its 190th Anniversary on Sunday 20th September. We’re running two almost identical services at 10:00am and 2:00pm, and we’ve set up an online ticketing process to make sure everyone can be seated.

Registrations, which opened last week, have been going gang busters. 10:00am is just about full. There are still plenty of spaces at 2:00pm, but – and I can’t emphasise this enough - you need to register to secure a seat.

And while you’re registering, put some thought into who you can invite to come with you. It’s perhaps the easiest invite to church you’ll ever get. “Hey, my church turns 190 this year. Would you like to join me at our Celebration Service on 20th September”. It’s that simple. Easy peasy.

In particular, invite your unbelieving family and friends. Not because we’ll be making an evangelistic appeal so they can respond and become a Christian, but so they can be introduced to why church and a relationship with Jesus mean so much to you. Do that and it should open up a window for ongoing discussion and enquiry with yourself – the most effective evangelist they might ever know, because you care for them.

We will be celebrating Gods’ goodness and faithfulness. We will be singing the gospel story. We will be rejoicing in our life together: Spirit inspired unity across five congregations and four languages. We will be proclaiming the Word of God. We will be lifting high the name of Jesus.

It should be a great day. So, what do you need to do? It’s simple:

a)       Think about who you can invite.

b)       Invite them. (Invitation cards are available in the church vestibule)

c)       Register for yourself and for those you have invited.
