A Lamp for My Feet

York serves as the Chairman of the Leadership Council at our church. Since being diagnosed with cancer in March this year, he has been faithfully walking through this challenging journey.
Recently I came across a sermon that mentioned if God were to turn on a great bright light that revealed everything around us, our faith in Him would instantly disappear. Because if we could see everything clearly, would we still need faith?
In contrast, even in our most difficult times, God only gives us a lamp for our feet and a light for our path — just enough to take the next step forward. In this way, we learn to rely on God in faith, walking step by step.
Human nature always wants to have full control — to gather all the information and resources, to make sure everything is secure and under control, with buffers upon buffers. On the surface, it looks responsible and cautious, but spiritually, we never truly learn what faith is.
Lately, in my prayers, I keep asking God: “How much longer will these days last? Is my condition improving or worsening?” Yet God’s answer is: don’t worry too much; each day has enough trouble of its own.
So I continue to walk step by step in the darkness, thankful that I’m still here today. Thank you all for walking with me in prayer. May we encourage one another.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
